Thanks to social media, it’s becoming easier to catch on to the latest trends. In fact, we could attribute this not to social media, but technology in general. It’s given us the power to share trends and ideas no matter where we are, and it’s allowed us to spread those ideas to millions around the world. As a result, cycling through different design trends is much easier and things that used to be fashionable are now coming back to either haunt us or impress us.

The Return of Pine

For the longest time, pine and mahogany were out in favour of cleaner and smarter designs. This was to match the minimalist ideals that designers were pushing for, but things have started to change. Like many things in life, fashionable trends come full circle and wooden textures are making a comeback. At first, it felt like natural themes would return with a contemporary twist. Instead of wooden walls and tables, we’d get slips and vinyl wraps. Instead of wooden furniture, it would be painted in different colours to match our interiors.

However, that all seems to be changing and it feels like people are starting to value the traditional and natural look of plain old pine. While it might still be competing with modern designs that focus on clean lines and minimalism, there’s no denying that there are more options available for interior design and pine is certainly marching back onto the map.

If you’re tired of that boring, clean modern look, then why not go for something more retro and rustic with pine? The comeback of pine is real and thanks to a demand for more unique and varied interior designs, it’s certainly something that more and more people are considering.

While sourcing pine and other types of wood can be trickier nowadays, there are plenty of places to purchase fantastic wooden furniture. Whether it’s bedroom furniture, coffee tables or even shelves, there are many pine retailers around that still do things the traditional way (and always have done!).

Bedrooms are a fantastic place for pine furniture because they uphold that traditional, natural and even retro feel. Another fantastic place for pine is actually the living room. Shelves and bookcases look beautiful in pine when combined with a similar colour palette.

Don’t go to the companies that are jumping on the trend and adding pine products to their lineup. Instead, go to those traditional furniture makers and carpenters that you’ve been missing out on.

Local retailers are fantastic, but online retailers can give you even more choice for different types of pine furniture that can fit all of your rooms. The next time you plan to purchase some furniture or mix up your interior design, consider looking at older trends such as pine because there’s a good chance it’s coming back in style.
