Why Choose Furniture4yourhome

Discover The Difference

Choosing furniture for your home is a truly personal experience and its something that we share with you.

It’s important that you are happy with your decision and that whatever piece of furniture you choose, we want to join with you in the process to help and guide you along the way.

Our Farrow and Ball furniture range is our premium selection, made from tulip wood - known for its strength, and high resilience to changes in temperature and humidity.

Its a heavier, closer grained timber to pine, it takes paint very well and will look the part in your home for many years to come.

But How Is It Made?

It Starts On The Drawing Board.

Our designs for all of our furniture, come from the heart.

Created by our own designers, we have combined a blend of contemporary designs with the more traditional feel to provide pieces of furniture that will suit your homes interior, regardless if its a modern design or a more traditional finish.

Traditional Craftsmanship

Our furniture is handmade at our factory in the UK, it is equipped with the latest machines and technology, but traditional tools, saws, and tape measures are everywhere.

The most important part of the manufacturing process is the cutting and preparing of the timber.

A great deal of time is spent ensuring that each and every component is cut to the correct size and shape. Get something wrong at this juncture in the process and it will spell disaster when the product is assembled.

Each and every stage of construction follows proven traditional methods.

Whilst modern day glues and resins are exceptionally strong and long lasting, we prefer to use dovetail, tongue and groove, and mortice and tenon joints to not just uphold traditional methods, but also to provide strength and long service.

The Best Materials

To ensure that your piece of furniture is perfect, our attention to detail begins with the materials used.

We prefer to use Tulip wood for our premium ranges, sourced from Australia, Brazil and the US.

Its more expensive that regular pine, but it has its benefits - Its a closer grained timber with minimal knots which gives it a much finer finish, something that is so important when you are painting the timber.

Its far stronger and much more resilient to changes in temperature and humidity.

This is especially important with products like larder cupboards that spend their entire life in our kitchen.

The bottom line is that we want that piece of furniture to look as good in ten years time just as it did the day it left the factory.

From the framework through to the sides, tops, doors and drawers, each section of timber is carefully prepared and inspected (twice) before its used to assemble your chosen piece.

Assembly

Using traditional skills gained over years of experience, our trained craftsman carefully assemble your chosen item of furniture, paying close attention to all aspects of the piece.

It is during this process that any slight alterations can be made, this is to ensure that your finished article is perfect for you.

Painting

Most of our Farrow and Ball furniture is supplied in a painted finish, although we can supply a hand waxed finish if required.

There is a choice of 18 standard colours that will suit any decor.

Note : If your preferred colour is not on our standard list, we can paint your furniture in any colour from the Farrow and ball range.

All of our painting is carried out by our skilled paint shop operators. They love their work, but also take it very seriously.

We use only Farrow and Ball paints to ensure quality and a long lasting finish.

There is only one way to get the perfect finish and that takes time and effort.

All pieces receive a coat of primer (usually in grey or white depending on the final finish) after that has dried and has been rubbed down if required, the item is checked again for any imperfections that might show through the paint.

Once satisfied that the finish is perfect, the furniture item is sent away for the final painting which involves 2 coats of top coat being applied by our expert staff.

The items are now allowed to dry for up to 7 days to ensure that that the paint is fully cured.

Fixtures And Fittings

After this stage, we fit the drawer runners (where applicable), hinges, door and drawer handles (you can choose from a range of handle designs and finishes to suit your taste and decor).

We like to fit all drawers and doors with soft close hinges and runners wherever possible.

Wrapping It Up

Every item of furniture that we make is carefully wrapped, using protective corners and running blocks on the bottom.

This is to ensure that each and every item of furniture reaches you in perfect condition.

Our delivery staff are trained in the safe handling of your furniture and will position it into your home just where you want it.

Some of our larger pieces are made into two or more sections for ease of delivery to ensure everything goes together perfectly before we leave.
